The Beginning

Welcome to our blog, Generations - Relationships. We are Hot Mama, a 40-something single working Mom of two teenagers and Eager Beaver, a 20-something recent college graduate. We quickly became friends when Eager Beaver was an intern at Hot Mama's place of employment two years ago. A shared sense of humor and the absurdities of co-workers pushed us together, but we really bonded while sharing stories of life, love, and relationships. Soon we discovered that we had more in common than a 20 year age difference would allow you to believe, and that the struggles women face in relationships bridge any generation gap. While sharing our stories with one another we realized that despite our age difference, there was a lot we could learn from one another. And we're not alone in our unlikely close knit friendship. More and more women today have friends that run the gamut from being their own age, younger, or even decades older. We love that this trend in friendships is becoming more "acceptable" even though it's still a little odd for Hot Mama's teenage children. They can't decide if it's cool or weird that one of their mother's best friends is only a few years older than they are.

In the course of our many conversations, we've come to realize that no matter what their age men don't seem to change much, as the saying goes they grow old but not up. And that our female friendships can be as complicated as our relationships with men. So, on a recent vacation together we decided that what we learn during all the drama of our relationship trials and tribulations could be helpful to others or at least be good for a laugh with a glass of Chardonnay or on a lunch break. So welcome to Generations - Relationships, we look forward to sharing our stories with you and hope that you will feel free to share your stories with us.
